Important news about your BabySteps research activities

Many children in our study, though not all, are starting reception this September – a huge and exciting milestone! With that in mind, we’d like to share a few BabySteps updates for the year ahead.

First of all, we’ve sent everyone a special research activity in August to find out how children are getting on at this crucial age, just before many children are starting school.

Importantly, we’re changing how often the BabySteps research activities are sent out. We’re moving the research tasks from monthly to every two months, so you’ll start to receive tasks less frequently in the Autumn. We know family life only gets busier once school starts, and we also have the Age 5 survey coming up (more news on that coming soon…)!

We’re also planning something special to help with the transition to school: a video with an expert on starting school – what to expect, how to support your child, and how to look after yourselves along the way. Keep an eye on the app during August, or if you have turned on app notifications, you’ll receive a notification when this is live.

Ask our expert:

We’d love to hear from you any questions you would like us to ask our expert. Send your questions before Thursday the 6th of August by opening the About page in your app and tapping Ask Questions or Provide Feedback.

Finally, a big thank you:

It’s hard to believe it’s been 4 years since you joined the Children of the 2020s study. Everything you’ve shared through taking part in the annual surveys and your monthly BabySteps activities has helped us understand how children grow, learn and thrive, and we’re enormously grateful.

Later this year you will also hear more details about the Age 5 survey that is coming up – watch this space!

Thank you, as always, for being part of BabySteps and Children of the 2020s.
